Clean Technology Hub is a pioneering hybrid hub for the research, development, demonstration and incubation of clean energy ideas, technologies, and resources for clean energy organizations and environment and climate-friendly initiatives across Africa. Clean Tech Hub has its headquarters in Abuja, Nigeria with virtual hubs across the country. The hub is an early start-up incubator for inventions and innovations in clean energy, a consultancy for sustainability and climate-friendly solutions for organizations and businesses and an advocate for clean energy investments into Africa.

Over the years, the hub has incubated about 8 start-ups while as of 2020, there are 30 active start-ups in incubation currently. These start-ups will go through an extensive incubation support program that will move them from the ideation phase to the proof of concept phase. Consequently, they are matched with companies in the network to develop their ideas for technology exchange programmes.

As a direct result of the hub’s drive to increase and support women-owned businesses, it hosts a series of Gender Initiative Projects and Programmes which includes: Clean Energy Demonstration workshop for women-owned SMEs (was held in March 2020, where over 260 women have been trained). Other training programs hosted are Gender Mainstreaming in Driving Energy Access and Economic Empowerment Training Workshops; Women in Clean Energy Leadership Workshop where over 50 women leaders in the Energy Access sector were brought together to form a coalition.

Some of Clean Tech Hub partners and network include Renewable Energy Association of Nigeria, Strategy and Innovation for Development Initiative (SI4DEV), Women in Renewable Energy Nigeria, Strategy and Innovation for Development Initiative, Open Society Institute for West Africa, Roshan Global Services, Nigeria Climate Innovation Centre, UK Department for International Development (DFID), and the Schneider Foundation. Clean Technology Hub is also a BOI (the largest Development Finance Institution) nationally approved Business Development Service Providers (BDSPs) partner.
